Window Restrictors In Rented Properties – New Legal Requirements relating to windows restrictors for rented properties
Every rental property must since 2017 have Suitable Window Restrictors fitted where required
- Where a window has an opening section through which a person may fall, and the bottom of the opening section is more than 1400mm above external ground level, suitable safety restrictors shall be fitted. Safety restrictors shall restrain the window sufficiently to prevent such falls.
Note: Landlords now need to ensure that windows in their rented accommodation have restrictors fitted that do not require a key to release them otherwise they will not comply with building regulations.
